Month 4 as a Founder: Striving for Excellence

October 12, 2022

When you start acting like a champion, it changes everything. But you have to start πŸ’ͺ🏻

So here we are at the end of month 4, and I'm finally writing this blog! I can't believe how quickly time has flown by—it feels like it was just a couple of weeks ago that I launched talentX.

This month has been kind of crazy—I'm running around like a mad woman most days, but I'm also more focused and motivated than ever before. I feel like we're really starting to make real progress at talentX, it's been a whirlwind of an adventure so far but one thing is for sure; the journey has only just begun!.

I can say with confidence that this is what life is all about; taking risks and putting yourself out there to make something happen. When you start something new, especially something that is so close to your heart, you will feel scared, anxious and uncertain at times. But if you don't take these risks then how will you ever know what could have been?

At talentX, we're all about excellence πŸ₯‡

I'm a big believer in the idea that we can always get better. Excellence is a moving target and we’re working hard to get to where we want to be. That means more than just putting in the hours, it’s about living and breathing the behaviours and habits of a champion every day. It's about committing to everything you have to the process, and seeing how everything else falls into place when you do that.

We know that sounds a little intimidating—but it doesn't have to be! Striving for perfection is really just about starting: starting here, with yourself, in this moment. Just like any champion who's ever accomplished something great, it starts with a commitment to excellence… every moment of every day. It's about committing to trying your best at everything you do—
and then doing it again the next day. And then again the day after that.

When you start acting like a champion, it changes everything. But you have to start πŸ’ͺ🏻 πŸ‘πŸ» πŸ₯³

At talentX, we believe that every moment is an opportunity to chase excellence and become a champion. That's why we're working hard to get our clients to their full potential—we want them to be the best versions of themselves, and we believe that by helping them achieve their goals, we'll all be better off for it.

We're not just talking about getting more work done faster—we're talking about building something better, whether it's a service or an experience for our customers. We want to make sure that everything we do is the best it can be, and that means constantly evaluating how we do things and looking for ways to improve them.

That's why I want to talk about what worked well at talentX last month, what we improved on, what we have learned, and what we will do differently next month.

1️⃣ What worked well?
Our talentX community is growing and we onboarded our first Global Tech Talent Partner into one of our clients in Dubai.

We’re excited to have them onboard as this allows us to provide an even better service to our clients by giving them access to a superstar tech recruiter who can help them fill their open positions.

2️⃣ What have we improved on?
We reviewed how we communicate with all of our clients and made improvements to our communication channels so that we can all stay in the loop and be able to collaborate more effectively!

We also held our first talentX Scrum Meeting, this is an opportunity for us all to check in on a weekly basis about what's happening with our projects and how they are going/any challenges we are facing. This helps us to make sure that we're always learning and helps with any sprint planning necessary for getting our projects done quickly and efficiently!

3️⃣ What have we learned? Every founder, leader, and CEO is different.

Yes, they have a lot in common: they're all responsible for the success of their company and their team, and they're all racing against the clock to make sure that every employee is working hard and making progress. But every founder is an individual with his or her own strengths and weaknesses—and when it comes to building a team that works together to grow your business, you need to be able to see those differences clearly.

We've worked with founders & leaders who are extroverts who thrive on the energy created by groups of people around them; we've worked with introverts who prefer one-on-one conversations over group meetings; we've worked with people who need constant feedback on their work habits so they can improve them; we've worked with people who need guidance before they start working on a new project.

But no matter what kind of leader you are, there's one thing that all leaders need: support. You don't have time for a lot of hand-holding or micromanaging—you need someone who understands where you're coming from and can help you overcome obstacles without slowing down your workflow.

4️⃣ What will we do differently next month? We are excited to announce that we are expanding our leadership 1:1 sessions with our clients.

Starting next month, we will be conducting weekly 1:1 sessions with our clients to listen to them and support them with any challenges they are facing. This is an important step in making sure that we're providing the best possible experience for everyone who uses talentX. talentX's mission is to help you achieve your potential and understand that excellence is within reach.

🧠 Excellence is a state of mind. It's a constant pursuit of improvement, of betterment.

What are you doing right now to be excellent? 🀩

  • Are you working as hard as you can?

  • Are you improving yourself every day?

  • Are you taking care of your body and mind?

You're ready for greatness. We know it, and we want to help you get there! ❀️ πŸš€

πŸ’ͺ🏻 But you have to start somewhere. And if you're ready now, here are some things we think will help you to reach excellence:

1) Tackle one thing at a time - focus on what matters most right now, then move on once it's done (and celebrate πŸ₯³)

2) Learn from others who've done this before - find people who inspire you and seek out their advice or mentorship

3) Try something new everyday

4) Listen to those around you and take feedback

Your job is hard. We get that. We're here to make it easier πŸ˜ƒ

The UAE is a vibrant and diverse country, and the workforce is increasingly becoming more sophisticated. As a result, companies must take steps to ensure they are hiring the most qualified professionals in the market, especially when it comes to hiring Emiratis. In this blog post, we'll discuss why Emiratization is important and how talentX can help you find the best Emirati talent for your organisation. What is Emiratization? Emiratization is a government initiative that encourages companies in the UAE to hire local nationals instead of expats. This helps to create opportunities for Emiratis and ensures that their skills are being utilised in the workplace. Ultimately, it has become a key part of any successful business strategy and an important aspect of contributing to the overall development of the UAE economy. How Does talentX Help You Hire Qualified Emiratis? talentX provides employers with access to highly-qualified and junior local professionals who have undergone rigorous screening processes so that they can fill positions at their organisations quickly and effectively. They provide employers with a range of services such as providing detailed candidate profiles, conducting interviews with potential hires, evaluating candidates’ CVs and portfolios, preparing job descriptions for open positions, negotiating salaries and benefits packages, overseeing onboarding processes, and more. Not only do these services save employers time by pre-screening potential hires but they also help ensure that employers are hiring only qualified individuals who meet their specific criteria. By working closely with talentX, employers are able to easily connect with qualified local professionals while also meeting their Emiratization goals. At the same time, job seekers can swiftly find suitable roles within companies based on their skill set or area of expertise thanks to talentX’s comprehensive list of partners located throughout Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Improve the Quality of Your Hires with These Tips For any business, hiring new employees is one of the most important decisions you can make. It’s critical to bring on high-quality hires who will bring their skills and expertise to the team and help your business reach its goals. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to know how to hire the best people, especially in a competitive job market. Here are some tips to help improve the quality of your hires: Start with a Clear Job Description One of the first steps in improving the quality of your hires is making sure that you have an accurate and detailed job description. This should include information about salary, role expectations, company culture, and any other benefits or perks that come along with the position. A clear job description helps ensure that you attract applicants who are interested in the job for more than just the money; it also ensures that you get applicants who are better suited for what you’re looking for. Focus on Soft Skills When evaluating potential candidates for a position, it’s important to focus on both hard skills (such as technical knowledge) and soft skills (such as communication or problem solving). While hard skills may be necessary for certain jobs, soft skills often make all the difference when it comes to whether someone will fit into your team or not. When interviewing candidates, ask questions that allow you to assess their soft skills, such as “How do you handle conflicts?” or “What would your last boss say about your communication style?” Additionally, consider asking them questions related to past experiences so that you can get a better sense of how they might handle similar situations at your company. Give Candidates Tests Another way to gauge a candidate's ability is by giving them tests related to their potential job responsibilities. For example, if you're hiring a web developer, consider giving them an assessment test where they have to solve coding challenges within a specific time limit. Not only does this help assess their technical abilities but it also gives them an opportunity to showcase their problem-solving and analytical thinking skills as well. Additionally, these tests help weed out unqualified candidates early on in the process so that you don't waste time interviewing people who aren't qualified for the role or not interested in doing it properly. Improving the quality of hire doesn't have to be complicated; there are simple steps everyone can take towards achieving this goal and talentX is here to help. Start by creating an accurate job description and focusing on both hard and soft skills during interviews and assessments. Then give potential candidates tests related to their potential job responsibilities so that you can assess their abilities without wasting time interviewing unqualified candidates. By following these tips and working with talentX, businesses can ensure they hire high-quality employees who will contribute meaningfully towards achieving organizational goals!
